Why Wouldn't You Try a Grilled Chicken Salad For a Change?

Eating healthy is a choice at first and mandatory later on, but if you want to skip the mandatory part, switch to eating less fat and carbohydrates now. It is easier than you would think, and eating salads is not as bad as you would think at first. There are salads with marinated grilled meat in them and that is probably a push for many people to give lettuces a go.

Grilled chicken salad is an easy to prepare and good tasting variation, meat lovers can confidently try. Everything needed in this recipe is readily available in any local supermarket or grocery shop. You will need a pound of boneless chicken breast filet, this is going to be the heart of the salad.

Some lettuce you think you would like is also advised, if you can't decide, pick iceberg. You will need about 6 cups of it. Two cloves of garlic, a fresh lemon or two, a few cherry or cocktail tomatoes will do. Some garlic croutons are advised but not mandatory, these are the highest carbohydrate source in this meal, advised for the balance.

You will have the rest at home, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper and salt, olive oil is likely to be somewhere in your kitchen, if you just happen to be out, get some as you will also need half a cup of this for the marinade. If you're all out of cheese you can grate on this grilled chicken salad you will need to pick up 1/4 cup. Throw the lettuce, tomatoes, grated cheese and let it cool in the fridge until serving.

Mix the marinade, minced garlic, 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, salt, pepper and the olive oil. Brush the chicken strips. Cover everything and let it cool for an hour. After you're ready with the medium coal, put the strips of chicken on for a few minutes, and turn after 5-6 minutes. They are done once the middle is no longer pink. Let the strips cool a little, then cut into 1/2 pieces. Throw with the rest of the salad, add croutons and store in the fridge until you are ready to serve, or eat it yourself.

Eating healthy is not that big of a commitment some people make it out to be, and with this particular grilled chicken salad recipe it is no longer a choice between tasty and healthy foods, it is choosing both at the same time.
